The State of Alabama offers many ALABAMA VETERANS BENEFITS, in addition to benefits offered by the U.S. Veterans Administration:

  • Veterans Home Programs include The Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City; The Floyd E. "Tut" Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, and The William F. Green State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, all provide excellent care to Alabama Veterans.
  • Ad Valorem Tax Exemptions allows an Alabama Veteran receiving total disability benefits from the VA (TDIU) to be exempt from Alabama ad valorem taxation of the home. Additionally, the property of all incompetent veterans to the value of $3,000.00 is also exempt from ad valorem taxation.
  • Military Combat Pay for Alabama Veterans who receive compensation from the VA, shall have that compensation exempt from income taxes levied by the State of Alabama.
  • Veteran Fishing License is available to a disabled Alabama Veteran may receive a fishing license for an annual fee of $1.00.
