Deerfield Beach

The City of Deerfield Beach dates back to 1890, when the first settlement was made along the Hillsboro River. Originally the name of the City was called Hillsoboro, but was changed to “Deerfield” because of the numerous key deer that fed adjacent to the river.

The City was largely agricultural until after World War II, when the Florida East Coast Railroad and better roads, started attracting transplants from northern climates. Today, the City boasts a population of over 75,000 persons. The famous Deerfield Beach pier and Quiet Waters Park are among the many attractions in this city.
